The HEAT guys will be running another canopy coaching weekend 24-25 Apr. This is again FREE and is open to APA members AND first time visitors to the DZ (though they will have to join the APA, even if just a temporary membership)! There are only 20 places on the course, and we expect them to go very quickly.

The course is open to all standard of canopy fliers, whether you're working towards CH2 or are an experienced swooper.

We will be taking a deposit at the time of booking (£20 military, £30 civilian) which pays for your first 2 jumps. To book your place phone the office on 01980 628250.

The British Collegiate Parachute Association will be holding their southern universities’ competition over the first May bank holiday. This is open to any BCPA club (and non-BCPA affiliated clubs are welcome to come along as well), and will include 3-way FS and accuracy events, with categories from student to jumpers with over 200 jumps. Once the competition is over, the aspiration then is to set a new collegiate big way record (currently 16-way).

Anyone wishing to get involved can turn just up for registration on Fri 30th April. Full details will be published in due course on the UKS website, but further details can be obtained by emailing Garrick at league@bcpa.org.uk.

The APA will be running a programme of night jumps on Friday 14th May. The programme will start with a briefing at 2000 hours, which is compulsory for all wishing to perform night jumps, followed by the jumps once it is dark. This is open to all those in possession of a B licence or above, and if it is their first night jump, it must be a hop and pop. There may be scope for jumpers to perform 2 night jump that evening.

The cost will be a set price of £25 mil or civ regardless of altitude .

The dates for the Armed Forces Parachute Championships 2010 are as follows:

• Wed 4th - Fri 6th Aug: Training.
• Sat 7th - Fri 13th August: Competition.
• Sat 14th - Sun 15th August: 8-Way Speed Competition.

This year's FS Scrambles will take place 4-5th September 2010.

Registration will be open from 8am-8.45am. Register as individuals, and you will be put into teams, each with an even spread of experience from rookie to experienced AAA 4-way competitor/National Champion. The competition will consist of 4 rounds, and will include mostly randoms and a few blocks. The minimum entry criteria is FS1 and a sense of humour/fun!

There are medals for the top 3 teams. Also, the winners will be reimbursed all their jump tickets, and the second placed team will get half their jump tickets back.

Fun jumpers are more than welcome to come and jump whilst the competition is taking place, but the Scrambles will take priority. There will naturally be a late bar and party, more details to follow!
