A Performance Worth Waiting For

Skydiving is a little like being on a film set!  Most of the time you spend waiting around to be called for your big scene!  But when that time comes your performance goes down a storm and wow, it was worth the wait.

We live in a stunning country, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.   However, some of our weather leaves a lot to be desired.  Skydive Netheravon is located on Salisbury Plain, and has a micro climate all of its own.  We can have wonderful blue skies – and the wind gets up, we can have a windless day – and the cloud descends, we can just get skydivers to the flight line and a bank of mist rolls in etc, etc!  Despite the most up to date weather forecasts, it’s not an exact science.

Everyone that comes here to skydive, comes with a little apprehension and a lot of expectation.  In most cases we can rise above that expectation.  Sadly there is one thing we can’t organise and that’s the weather!  We constantly forewarn our customers if the weather looks bad, to prevent them having a wasted journey; equally sometimes the fronts roll through faster than we expected.  We are also very aware that many people take a day off in order to jump, and most of all we don’t want to disappoint anyone.

However, skydiving is an extreme sport and jumping out of an aircraft in the wrong weather would not only be dangerous it would be irresponsible and stupid.  Like standing in front of an oncoming high speed train!

So be patient with us!  Make a day of it; bring your friends; drink coffee; have lunch; picnic with your family, the options are limitless.  Above all remember that as a skydiver you are the main player in this particular film and the stage is yours.  We want your performance to shine, so you can take the applause from your family and friends when you land safely on the drop zone. Trust me, you’re the star, any waiting around really will be worthwhile!  Happy landings!

  • “I had a truly awesome experience yesterday, in every way.  I was absolutely terrified but felt totally invincible afterwards and I even fell in love with your cameraman, Mike!  Cam was lovely too and if I decide to do it again it would have to be with him.  It was all very professional, from start to finish. They were a great bunch and I will recommend this to anyone and everyone.  I jumped for the MS Trust and secured £723 in sponsorship so far with promises of more to come.  It is great to feel alive again.”

  • "First charity tandem skydive done here last Saturday. Despite being extremely scared, the instructors made me feel completely at ease and in safe hands. Highly recommend anyone doing a jump, to do it here. Would definitely consider doing another skydive off the back of this experience despite my fear of heights and flying. Brilliant day and life experience. Thank you."
